Hi everyone, I'm Andi, I sometimes work with Gem and Bex in High St, If I'm not there I'm at the Walsall branch, but I'm usually seen waving raffle tickets at the events in High St!
i do have a review blog www.readingrat.com but I'm notoriously bad at keeping it up to date, or you know...writing actual reviews for it! Maybe this forum will keep me focused:) i love reading YA, Maggie Stiefvater, Veronica Roth, David Levithan, Matthew Crow are a few of my favourite authors. i also run a dark romance book club in Walsall for anyone over the age of 15, it's on the last Thursday of every month at 6pm, if anyone fancies coming along! We actually haven't picked a book this month because last month we went on a road trip to see Divergent instead! We are all very down to earth and more often than not we end up gossiping about every book we've read that month Anyway:) And eating cake. That's the most important part! im really excited to be part of Ya Birmingham and hopefully I'll see some of you at the next event! (who is going to see the Fonz next week, I am stupidly excited about it?!) andi

Hey! This dark romance book club sounds great. I'm definitely old enough but I live too far away. I'd love to know what books you decide to read in the coming months though... I loved Maggie's Shiver series. I can't wait for Cole's story. I keep meaning to read her Raven Boys series too! I'm thinking about the event on Tuesday. It's certainly something different!!

Hello! Recognise you from some of the events at high st:) our book club is mostly filled with people over 20 lol it's a shame you're not nearer, but Bex has kindly created a board called Walsall where I will post what we're reading every month so people are more than welcome to read along and then discuss the book:)
I am so excited for Cole's story, he is my favourite character:) we read the first Raven Boys for book club a while back, and we all found it really hard to get into and connect with the characters. I feel like I need to give it another chance as the other books and the sketches Maggie puts on her Facebook make it look very intriguing!
If I had a leather jacket I'd totally get it signed by the Fonz! As it is, I'll stick to the book:)

I love Maggie Stiefvater! Shiver was such a haunting book, and I really need to read The Scorpio Races! Have you read Lament and Ballad too? I thought they were so good!

Lament and Ballad were amazing! In one way I preferred them to Shiver, they had a very lyrical, haunting feel to them, as their titles suggest lol

I preferred Lament and Ballad to the Shiver trilogy in a way also! Both of them were beautiful stories and I agree with you about them being haunting, her writing style is lovely

I've owned Lament and Ballad for a few years now but I never really picked them up! I'll definitely give them a chance now!

I haven't got around to buying Ballad and Lament yet but you've definitely just sold them to me!

They really are worth it! I feel like they are the one of most underrated YA books, but they shouldn't be because they are just gorgeous.

Totally agree! I only picked them up because I'd read Shiver which is a shame really, the books weren't too long but their stories are brilliant!
